AQUARIUM PROCESS MODEL/PLANS

I REBUILT MY MODEL I STUCK WITH THE SIMILAR IDEAS BUT AS MY PROFESSORS SUGGESTED THE ENTIRE STRUCTURE SHOULD BE CONNECTING SO I ATTEMPTED TO DO IT. AT TIMES IT IS TOUGH TO CONNECT EVERYTHING BECAUSE OF THE CURVES. I LOOKED AT SOME PRECEDENTS TO HELP WITH MY FLOOR PLAN AND I GET THE IDEA BEHIND FOURCING THE VISITORS INTO ONE EXHIBIT TO ANOTHER WHICH IS WHAT I DID HOPEFULLY. IN MY FIRST FLOOR PLAN YOU START OFF FROM THE CORAL REEF TANK AND GO THROUGH A TUNNEL OF A SEA OF FISH AND END UP WITH THE SEA HORSES WHICH LEADS YOU TO THE SHARKS I ADDED STEPS FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO TAKE A BREAK BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE NEXT EXHIBIT AND ALSO A DOOR WHICH LEADS YOU TO THE EXTERIOR. IF YOU CONTINUE ON WITH THE EXHIBITS THE PENGUINS COME NEXT THAN THE TURTLES. AFTER THAT YOU GO UP A RAMP WHICH WILL ALSO HAVE TANKS IN THE WALLS SO YOU WILL BE CONSTANTLY VIEW SOMETHING WHILE YOU WALK UP THE ENCLOSED RAMP AND KEEP THE VIEWER INTO THE AQUARIUM. IN THE SECOND FLOOR YOU ENTER THE TOUCH POOL AREA YOU WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO VIEW THE FIRST FLOOR SHARKS FROM THAT EXHIBIT AND  BE ABLE TO VIEW THE FISH TUNNEL UNDER YOU WHILE YOU ENTER THE MANTA RAY EXHIBIT, THE LAST EXHIBIT WOULD BE THE EELS THIS WILL BE COMBINED WITH THE HUGE CORAL REEF TANK AND WHILE YOU LEAVE THE EELS EXHIBIT YOU WILL WALK AROUND THE CORAL TANK AND END UP IN THE KIDS ZONE. THE THIRD FLOOR WILL BE A RESTAURANT AREA, 4D MOVIE THEATER AND A SIMULATION ROOM WHICH WILL BE A INTERACTIVE ROOM THAT TALKS ABOUT ENDANGERED SEA LIFE AND WILL ALSO HAVE AN ARCADE. I AM ALSO TRYING TO MAKE SURE I HAVE NO SHARP CORNERS AND ALL SMOOTH CURVE CORNERS/EDGES WHICH WILL  BE PART OF MY NEXT POST. RITE NOW I WAS MORE FOCUSED ON THE STRUCTURE BUT I DID HAVE LANDSCAPE ON MIND WHICH IS MY NEXT STEP I WANT TO CONNECT THE STRUCTURE WITH THE SITE AND I WILL ALSO BE POSTING MY THIRD FLOOR PLAN.

  1. The shape is compelling. You are starting to grab some of the earlier intentionality of the your exploratory exercises. You might have enough modeled to start looking at this through section cuts with perspectival bits beyond. This will allow you to see how the entirety of the organization works together.

The idea of curves only is interesting. Be careful to deploy that with good judgement. nothing makes a better statement than the element that defies the "rule" for a reason.

Since this is a school project without a budget and no one will "really" build it, get the leaf on the left side of your arrangement off the ground. It wants to be cantilevered and have a shadow line beneath it

  2. I really enjoy the street approach view. It does look like it is peeking its head with so much more to explore that we cannot see. the architectural stair that takes the visitor to the 2nd floor near the tunnel needs to be better engaged into the space or possibly connected to or moving over the tunnel.

I think the form is coming along - much stronger than before. I agree with Andy that the "tail" should be hoovering above the earth.

  3. Nice! The form is much more integrated scale wise than the previous study and you managed to connect the parts into a coherent language.

Jump right away into sections so you evaluate the plans simultaneously. You nicely described that the visitor will experience visual connections btw spaces from both the first and second floor. Visualize that through a section cut and see how it works.

Looking forward to the landscaping as it is equally important to your enclosed space. Take under consideration the possibility of the pedestrian passing underneath your building mass in certain critical areas. The cantilever idea will help towards this direction.

  4. Hi I just found this great structure that you could use for design reference since is similar to your design ... good luck!!
